Day 1 Arrival in Zhangjiajie with hotel transfer

Today's Activities

Upon arrival at Zhangjiajie airport or railway station, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is free for you to relax after the journey.

Day 2 Zhangjiajie (Breakfast, Lunch)

Today's Activities

Take the Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, the inspiration for the floating mountains in the movie AVATAR. This Guinness World Record–holding outdoor elevator dramatically lifts you from the valley floor to the mountain top in about 1.5 minutes. Explore highlights such as Hallelujah Mountain and the No.1 Bridge Under Heaven.

After lunch, continue to He Long Park and visit Tianzi Mountain, renowned for its misty peaks, layered stone pillars, and expansive natural viewing platforms. Descend by cable car and finish the afternoon with a visit to the Ten-mile Gallery by tram (optional) in the Suoxiyu Scenic Area.

In the evening, you may choose to enjoy the famous Charm Western Hunan cultural show (optional).

Day 3 Zhangjiajie (Breakfast, Lunch)

Today's Activities

After breakfast, visit Tianmen Mountain by round-trip cable car. Known as the "Soul of Zhangjiajie", Tianmen Mountain features dramatic highlights including Tianmen Cave, Tongtian Avenue, the Glass Skywalk, the Ghost Plank Road, and Tianmen Temple.

After lunch, visit Tujia Folk Customs Park (also known as Tusi Town) to learn about the traditional architecture and culture of the Tujia ethnic group, followed by a visit to Dayong Ancient City. Later, you will be transferred to Zhangjiajie airport or railway station for your onward journey.

As a solo traveler on a tight budget, I opted for a three-day budget group tour, and it was an excellent decision. It efficiently covered all the must-see highlights like Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain, including transportation, park entry, and basic accommodations. While it was a larger group (about 20 people), having the logistics handled allowed me to fully enjoy the hikes and vistas without navigating buses or ticket lines.
