 Daily Itinerary
Day 1   Arrive in Kunming

You will be picked up at Kunming airport and transferred to the hotel. Free for you to explore the city in the rest of the day. You can visit the landmark of Kunming -- the Golden Horse and Phoenix Archway and take a leisurely stroll along the Green Lake, a charming area of teahouses and small boutiques.

Green Lake Park: Green Lake makes for an excellent winter outing. It is then that large flocks of Siberian seagulls migrate here, a lasting reminder that man and nature can harmoniously co-exist.

Day 2   Kunming - Jianshui   (B,L)

Drive about 86 km to the Stone Forest. There is a local saying: "It is a waste of time not to visit the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming". The quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder. Then drive to Jianshui. After arrival in Jianshui, pay a visit to the Old Jianshui City, Chaoyang Gateway Tower that was built around 600years ago and known as Miniature of Beijing Tiananmen, the Confucius Temple and the Private Garden of Zhu Family .

Stone Forest: Believed to have formed 270 million years ago, this enchanting limestone landscape is a natural wonder filled with countless puzzle-like labyrinths and intricate stone formations.

Jianshui Confucius Temple:

his temple is the second largest Confucius temple in the world, second only to Shandong Province's Qufu Temple.

Private Garden of the Zhu family:

An outstanding example of a Qing dynasty traditional ancestral home. Large and magnificent buildings like this garden are now rarely seen in China.


Day 3   Jianshui - Yuanyang  (B,L)
Spend the morning visiting the Garden of Family Zhang and then drive to Yuanyang. In Yuanyang, we will visit Doyishu Village for the spectacular sight of terraced fields and Qingkou Village where Hani people inhabit for generations and enjoy the sight of terraced fields of Laohuzui(Tiger Mouth).
Yuanyang:

Yuanyang has become a big attraction for tourists and photographers because of the amazing rice terraces built on the red-soiled mountains.

Qingkou Hani Ethnic Village:

Considered to be one of the most beautiful minority villages in China. This primitive, unindustrialized countryside area preserves well the long-standing customs, which is hard to be found in modern life.


Day 4  Yuanyang - Kunming (B,L)   

Drive back to Kunming. On the way, visit a Mongolian village called Xingmeng Village.


Day 5   Kunming - Dali (B,L)  Transfer by flight

Take a morning flight to Dali and upon arrival transfer to the hotel. In the rest of the day we will visit the Erhai Lake Park, the Three Pagoda and the South Gate of Dali ancient town. Later today have a stroll down the Foreigner Street.

Three Pagodas:

Yet another representative of ancient Chinese architecture, the pagodas at Dali are stately and well-preserved. Each pagoda is home to Buddhist scriptures and significant cultural relics.

The old town of Dali :

The magnificent towers, elegant streets, exquisite courtyards, colorful flowers, and rippling water take visitors back in time to a more simple time filled with quiet charm.


Day 6   Dali - Lijiang (B,L) 

Have a morning tour around the old courtyards at Xizhou Town and then drive to Lijiang. Visit the scenic Black Dragon Pool and the Dongba Museum where you can learn about the rich Naxi minority culture.

Xizhou Town:

Xizhou is the country marketplace used by the local Bai minority. It is an ideal tourist destination for people who want to experience a different way of life.

Dongba Museum:

The museum has more than 10000 Dongba cultural relics and historical artifacts, some of which are displayed in its "Dongba Culture Exhibition".


Day 7  Lijiang  (B,L)

Visit Ganhaizi Meadow, Baishui River and Yak Meadow in the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the morning. Drive to visit Yufeng Lamasery and the Former Residence of Joseph Rock, a famous botanist and expert on Naxi culture.

Yak Meadow:

A part of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, it is home of a scenic grasslands that makes perfect grazing ground for yaks.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain:

Sitting at 18,000 feet above sea level, the mountain is named for its dragon-like appearance and holds both a famous glacier and a variety of rare wildlife and precious plants.

Former Residence of Joseph Rock:

Joseph Rock spent most of 1922-1949 traveling Southwest China as an explorer from his base near Lijiang. He wrote articles for National Geographic and introduced Shangri-La to the world.


Day 8  Lijiang - Shangri-la (B,L)  

Today we will depart Lijiang to Shangri-la. You can enjoy the magnificent scenery as the road running through the Lijiang valley. Visit the First Bend of the Yangtze River and the Tiger Leaping Gorge on the way. Upon arrival in Shangri-la you will find yourself into a Tibetan cultural area and a landscape of barley fields and yaks scattered in the valleys. Towards evening we will be welcomed into a Tibetan family's home to taste Yak Butter Tea and participate in Tibetan dances.

First Bend of the Yangtze River:

Unusual geological phenomenon force the Yangtze to make a sudden V-shaped bend. This has created a spectacular view and one of the most photographed spots on the river.

Tiger Leaping Gorge :

As the deepest gorge in the world, the stunning view depicts raw power that inspires a sense of adventure. The magnificent scenery there will among the best of your whole trip.

 

Day 9   Shangri-la  (B,L)

In the morning, visit the Ganden Sumtseling Gompa, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan, and the tranquil high mountain lakes -- Bita Lake & Shudu Lake, which are surrounded by alpine meadows and wildflowers on one side, and a temperate rain forest on the other. After this, visit the Old Town of Shangri-la and the Guishan Park.

Bita Lake & Shudu Lake:

The two rivers are located in Puda Tso National Park, which is the Natural wonderland and UNESCO World Heritage Site contains a variety of rare flora and wildlife as if straight from the pages of Lost Horizon, which originally made the area famous.


Day 10  Shangri-la - Kunming (B,L)  Transfer by flight

Take a morning flight to Kunming. Drive 15km to the Western Hills to visit Huating Temple, one of the largest Buddhist temples in Kunming, and then reach the Dragon Gate which is well-known for a group of grottoes, sculptures, corridors and pavilions hacked from the cliff between 1781 and 1853 by a Taoist monk and his co-workers. Later, take a stroll through the bustling Birds and Flowers Market in the city.

Western Hills & Dragon Gate:

West Hill has become a popular attraction with many scenic spots, known for stone sculptures on the cliff, represented by the Dragon Gate, which took 72 years to complete. Tourists can take a bird-eye view of the grand Dianchi Lake from the spot of the Dragon Gate.

Birds and Flowers Market:

Kunming is a paradise for flowers and birds. The market there is full of exotic species of both, making it an excellent place to leisurely stroll around and take in the sights.

Day 11   Kunming Civilian Museum - Departure

On this day, we will have a visit to the Kunming Civilian Museum before transferring to the airport.
