Feel the amazing breeze and buzz of the passed Gaochang glory when you stand so close to the architectural remains, savor its gorgeous religious art in Buddha caves and get a better understanding of how Turpan folks’ daily life should be in local market and other fundamental facility.

Day 1 Gaochang Ancient Ruins- Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves- Astana Graves (Lunch)

Today's Activities

Arrive in Turpan by train, after a short rest at the hotel, spend about 30 minutes by car for Gaochang Ancient Ruins, you’ll see how spectacular the city once was.

Next you will make your way towards Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves(8km from Gaochang Ancient Ruins). There you’ll start an initial discovery of the grant Buddha centre of Gaochang.

OK, time to leave for Astana Graves(2km from Gaochang Ancient Ruins). Have a look at the valuable underground museum of Turpan where keeps the largest number of mummies.

You’ll go past the Flaming Mountain on the way back to Turpan. during the tour and enjoy the vigorous flame-like landscape. It would be more wonderful if you have read the legendary Chinese fiction – The Journey to the West..

A day of experiencing Turpan custom！

First, go and have fun in local Bazaar. That’s definitely an exciting exhibition of stock exchange full of Turpan tone.

Next, let’s go for Emin Pagoda(3km from downtown Turpan) , which was built in 1778 and now ranks as the largersrt pagoda in Xinjiang.

The last stop is Karez. Don’t look down upon the aged irrigation system cause it’s the longest irrigation channel in the world, and ranked along with the Great Wall and Hangzhou Grand Canal as the top three ancient projects in China.

Dear Nancy, I’m back in America yet my thoughts are all about the pretty good tour guides, hotels, restaurants and spots of the tour. I think I really enjoyed every moment with them.

Dear Sara, For my fantastic Xinjiang tour I’d like to say a huge thank-you here.The travellings went so smooth around Kashgar, Urumqi and Turpan. Though sometimes we got to face bumpy situations, our drivers never let us down. The same it was with our thoughtful guides. My little girl didn’t feel that well at first in sweltering outskirts of Turpan, but with the caring guides and the protective tools they brought along, she was fine then.
