1 Arrive in Guiyang (D) |
You will be met and welcomed by the guide in Guiyang airport. Guizhou is nicknamed
"The Kingdom of Mountains", as 87% of its land is comprised of mountains and plateaus. In the evening we will have a welcoming dinner to acquaint ourselves. |

2 Guiyang—Jichang (100km, 1.5hr) —Guiyang (B,L,D) |
Today's program highlights the remaining culture of the old Han (Chinese) ethnic group. The ancestors of these villagers migrated from Jiangxi Province to Guizhou Province in the Ming Dynasty. We will drive for 1.5 hours to reach Jichang village. The ancient stone house, lots of legend story, warm-hearted people, and their lovely smile will leave you an unforgettable experience. After lunch at the village, we will watch a local Ground Opera performance. Later we will take the afternoon to walk around and explore nearby old Han village. We will drive back to Guiyang this afternoon. |

In this ancient village women are still dressed in traditional Ming dynasty costumes, and houses remain faithful to the Ming architectural styles. |
Ground Opera: |
This opera in Jichang can be dated to 1382, during the Ming Dynasty. It is famed for the performers' symbolic masks and said as one of the surviving oldest operas of the world. |

3 Guiyang—Xiaba (100km, 1.5 hr) —Dazhai village (on foot, 1.5 hr) (B,L,D ) |
Today we'll watch the waist-drum dancing in Wenchang Pavilion square and then leave Guiyang to explore villages around Xiaba. After lunch, spend the afternoon hiking through the Damochong Valley, an area of quaint villages, dense bamboo groves and clear streams. We'll stop along the way and learn about the art of traditional paper-making. Stay in Dazhai village (with clean bed sheet). |

4 Dazhai village—Yandi village(on foot, 3 hr)—Guiyang (100km, 1.5hr) (B,L,D ) |
We'll spend the morning exploring Dazhai village, an enchanting maze of old wooden houses amongst green paddy fields. Afterwards take a 3 hours hike through this area of quaint mountain villages and reach Yandi White Miao villlage, where you can pay a visit to the local family and chat with the people. Drive back to Guiyang in the afternoon. |

5 Guiyang—Kaili (220km, 2.5 hr) —Maomaohe village (35km, 0.5hr) (B,L,D ) |
Today, we will drive 3 hours (2 hours highway, 1-hour county road) to Leishan county, center of the Miao culture in Southeast Guizhou. From Leishan, we will hike for half an hour before we reach Maomaohe village, which is known for its Long-Skirt Miao, a subgroup of Miao ethnic minority group. Local people will give us their warm welcome ceremony. We will have dinner with local people and gain a better understanding of life and customs in their area. If weather is good, we will join in local people's bon-fire party in the evening. Stay in Maomaohe village (with clean bed sheet). |

6 Maomaohe village—Leishan (30km, 0.5 hr) —Guiyang (280km, 3.5hr) (B,L,D ) |
After breakfast in Maomaohe village, we will drive to Paika village via Leishan. Hiking in Paika village for half an hour, you may feel as though you are idling along a corridor of landscape paintings of limestone pinnacles set against terraced rice fields and picturesque villages. In the afternoon, we will visit Datang village, inhabited by Short-Skirt Miao, a subgroup of Miao ethnic minority group. Datang is well known for its beautiful dancing and singing performances. Local villagers will welcome our group with the same hospitality as they've shown to their VIP guests. Return to Guiyang in late afternoon. |
