6 Days China Minority Highlights Tour in Guizhou

Our guide will meet you at Guiyang airport, and transfer you to Kaili, the state capital of Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture. It will take 2.5 hours. After check-in, the rest day is free for you. In the evening you can go to the local market to experience the local life, and taste delicious Guizhou cuisine. We will spend the night in Guiyang.

After breakfast, drive 1.5 hours to visit Wangba Gejia Village, which is located in north of Kaili and near Chong' An River.  The Gejia although classified as Miao are in fact a separate group.  As you arrive at the village you will be greeted by a small group of Gejia women. Singing a song to welcome you, they will pour rice wine into bowls and then pour the bowls into your mouths. Once you had drank the rice wine, they stamped your faces with a small chop. In this old ceremony friendly Gejia people bless the visitors happiness and health. Then you will enter the village to appreciate the beautiful mountain scenery and get close touch with local people to understand Gejia's featured custom.

After lunch in Chong' An River, return to Kaili. In the afternoon, you will visit the Jidao Long-Skirt Miao Village, located in the border of Kaili and Leishan county. It is a well-preserved village with strong Miao flavor, and is well-known for old Miao folk song, granaries, and bluestone roads. You will also visit a local family to get a close touch with the Miao people's life. We will have dinner and spend the night in the local family. 

In the morning you will visit Paika Miao Village to appreciate how the Lusheng is made. Lusheng is the Miao people's most important musical instrument.

The next stop is the famous Datang Short-Skirt Miao Village, where all the women wear extremely short skirts all year round. Another highlight in this village is the granary built over a pond with the multi-function of fire-proofing, rat-proofing and ant-proofing.

We will proceed to visit Zhouxi Qingman Miao Village where you can see the whole process of making pleated skirt.

After lunch, we will go ahead to Danzhai county to visit Shiqiao Miao Village where you will have a unique chance to learn about the ancient paper-making technique.

Then we will drive to Rongjiang county. En route, we will visit the Gaoyao Miao village to see the verdant rice terraces that blanket the hillside below the village. In 30 minutes, we walk up and down the hill to appreciate the magnificent scenery and take stunning photography.

Then we will drive to Rongjiang county to check in local hotel.

We will drive 2 hours from Rongjiang county to Liping county. After checking in local hotel, you will explore Zhaoxing Dong Village and have lunch. It is the largest Dong People's Village in Qiandongnan area. You will find many wooden stilt houses standing one by one as well as charming Drum Towers in the village.

After lunch, we will take you to Tang'an Dong People's Village, noted as the first ecological museum of Dong people. Then you will spend 3 hours in hiking from Tang'an to Zhaoxing through Xiage village, which is a nice experience. The scenes of farming and the beautiful village scenery will feast your eyes with a pure country life style.

Tonight, you will stay at the best local hotel in Zhaoxing.

In the morning, depart Zhaoxing. We will drive about 2 hours to reach Basha Miao Village, which is reputed as the 'Last Gunmen's Tribe in China', for almost all the adult male villagers usually carry hunting guns on their shoulders and gunpowder bags, bullet bags and knives around their waists. Besides, the male villagers' distinctive hair dresses are known as the existing most ancient style in China. Afterwards, transfer back to Kaili hotel to have a good rest.

Depart from Kaili to Guiyang airport to catch the flight.
